FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 1, 2026

JEFFERSON, Wis. – Planning for the 2027 Jefferson County Fair is well underway, and today the Fair is announcing its official dates, theme, and details for the Fairest of the Fair program.

The 174th annual Fair will take place July 7–11, during the second week of July. This schedule gives fairgoers a chance to enjoy their Fourth of July celebrations and roll right into Fair week with ease.

Early September, five choices were released to the public for voting via social media channels. After a two-week voting period with nearly 300 participants, the winning theme is “Barn Nights and Fair Lights”!

Community members are encouraged to start visualizing how this theme will shine across the fair via barn decorations, competitive exhibit creations, and the Poster Contest. Young artists in grades 5–12 will soon be invited to participate in the Fair’s annual Poster Contest, creating official poster designs inspired by the theme. Additional details about this contest will be released in November.

“The 2026 Fair was a huge success and brought together many new elements, programs, and activities for everyone,” said Sammy Garvey, Fair Coordinator. “The 2027 theme captures the community’s love of livestock and combines it with the public’s enjoyment of the fair when the sun sets. We’re having so much fun planning activities that celebrate the theme and offer something enjoyable for all.”

In addition to announcing the dates and theme, the Fair is launching the next stage of the 2027 Fairest of the Fair program - Nominations and applications are now open at JCoFair.com/Fairest. Individuals aged 18 and older are invited to learn more and reach out with questions, as current Fairest, Megan Doherty, has been offering her support through guidance and meetings with interested candidates. Nominations will be accepted through December 1, and applications are due December 21.
